Ski base repair at Gisler Sport

Base repair

Assess base damage first

We assess base damage first and tell you what can reasonably be repaired.
  • Base scratches
  • Holes in the base
  • Base repairs
  • Additional base work
We assess more complex base damage individually and discuss the likely work before proceeding.
Note on base grinding: Grinding always removes some base material. Previous services, heavy wear, deformation or an unknown history may mean that the base is already very thin in places without this being reliably visible from the outside. In rare cases, the base can therefore be ground through during service.

Workshop in Arosa

Precision from our workshop

We carry out base grinding, edge grinding and stone grinding on Montana machines. For the edge finish, we use Reichmann. Depending on their shape and condition, snowboards are pre-ground with a Reichmann hand-held machine and then generally stone-ground where construction and condition allow. We assess special designs such as Triple Base individually.

FAQ

Service FAQ

How long does a ski or snowboard service take?A standard service dropped off by 5:00 pm is generally ready from opening time the following morning. More complex base repairs may take longer.
Do I need to book the service in advance? No. You can bring in your skis or snowboard without booking in advance.
What damage can we repair?Depending on the damage, we can repair base scratches and holes. We can grind and sharpen dull edges. We do not offer repairs for damaged or torn-out edges.
Where can I drop off skis or a snowboard? At Gisler Sport Arosa on Poststrasse 65, at Bananas or at Gisler Sport Tschuggen.
Where are my skis ground? You can drop off your skis for service at all three Gisler Sport locations. They are ground in our workshop at Gisler Sport Tschuggen.
Can the base of a ski or snowboard be ground through?Yes, in rare cases this can happen. Grinding always removes some base material. On skis and snowboards with an unknown history, previous services, heavy wear or deformation, the base may already be very thin in places without this being reliably visible from the outside. During service, the base can therefore be ground through at such points in exceptional cases.
